Dealing with Dyslexia, solving difficulty with reading comprehension, spelling, writing, and organized speech require frontal hemispheric communication in an easy and automatic way. Dr. Paul Dennison, PhD in Education and his wife Gail discovered through muscle checking that each hemisphere holds specific letters. Looking at the Lazy 8 board you will notice that all lower case letters written correctly , using a counterclockwise motion, are located in the right hemisphere of the brain. All the other letters are located in the left hemisphere using the clockwise motion, or they tested on the left side.
During the early stages of a child's development, the process of crawling is when the hemispheres learn to communicate easily and automatically. If crawling is missed, the hemispheres have missed the automatic switch in the brain.
Doing the Lazy 8's, Alphabet 8's, Cross Crawls, and Cross Crawl sit ups, are ways to switch on the easy, automatic hemisphere communication.
If the switch does not stay on when needed or does not become automatic, Dennison Laterality Repatterning or 3-D Repatterning might be necessary to show the brain how it feels to be switched on, compared to being switched off.
When under stress, human beings turn on their dominant hemisphere, eye, ear, hand, and foot for survival purposes. This cuts off the easy, automatic, communication between hemispheres. This is another reason problems with reading, spelling, writing, and speaking may occur.
